How CORI Data are Transmitted

CORI's report-generating software enables automated collection
and submission of endoscopic exam data. Participating CORI
physicians capture accurate clinical information associated
with each endoscopic procedure and transmit these data to
the repository weekly.
- The endoscopist enters data into the program in the endoscopy
office or suite.
- Procedure reports are created and can be printed as soon
as the data are entered.
- The CORI database is populated as the physician fills
out the report.
- Each week, a transmission file is automatically prepared
by removing all identifying patient, physician and site
information from procedures performed during the week.
- The de-identified data is compressed and password-encrypted.
- The transmission file is sent using a modem, or over
the internet using ftp, to host servers at CORI central.
- The transmitted file is unpacked, and automatically screened
for obvious problems in completeness or quality.
- The data is then uploaded into our National Endoscopic
Database.
- Quality assurance measures and detailed monitoring of
data inclusion is regularly preformed by CORI's team of
data analysts.
This process allows us to continually build the National
Endoscopic Database. All CORI participants have access to
this research data and are welcome to submit research proposals
to our Research and Data services team.
